Alice was a Jersey Girl. After she married she went to the Berkshires, but she still loved and missed "the shore", and always spoke of her happy summers in Belmar, where the Burlingtons had a cottage. She recalled that at one time she had 12 bathing suits! Their next door neighbor, who was an artist, carved a statue of her wearing one of them, which stood in their front yard. Alice and Arthur were married at the shore and their wedding reception was held at the Belmar Fishing Club!
